I read this on a blog recently it cracked me up.

My good friend Chris, told me this story a couple years ago about his middle-America church, and I've been itching to blog it, but never felt I had permission.
That is, until he commented in a thread a couple items below about trying-not-to-laugh moments:
Our pastor, who is rather distant at times, was doing a teaching on communion, and put a slide up during the teaching, to emphasize the point that 'bread is life'.
Some of the more art-sensitive people noticed something about the slide, and had to look away. Some of the teen-aged boys noticed it too, and the snickering started. The pastor didn't notice.
And some gasping. But it gets worse:
After the teaching, he called the ushers forward to serve communion and instructed the video person to put that slide back up so that we could meditate upon it.
Various subdued reactions from muted laughter to restrained retching as people contemplated the image...then our campus minister went to the back and convinced the video person to go to a black screen.

The other day Sam's achool had a mini olympics for infants. It ended up being cancelled as it started raining, but Sam ran in one race.

He wasn't concentrating and started late, behind everyone (he is on the left in the picture in the green jumper and cream pants)

Mr. and Mrs. Hoffman are retired. Mrs. Hoffman insists that he go with her to Walmart. He gets bored with all the shopping. He prefers to get in and get out, but Mrs. Hoffman loves to browse. Here's a letter sent to her from the store.

Dear Mrs. Hoffman, over the past six months, your husband has been causing quite a commotion in our store. We cannot tolerate this behavior and may ban both of you from our stores. We have documented all incidents on our video surveillance equipment. All complaints against Mr. Hoffman are listed below.

Things Mr. Hoffman has done while his spouse was shopping in Walmart:
1. June 15: Took 24 boxes of condoms and randomly put them in people’s carts when they were not looking.

I finally took Samuel's training wheel's off on Wednesday. He rode like he's never worn them. He's just practising stopping and starting now. I'm very proud!

By the way, the boys do usually do wear their stack hats. They had taken off a few minutes before and i hadn't realised. :0 whoops

I love the illustration's in this passage. I especially love the last one. I make playdough fairly often at preschool. As simplistic as I am, I find it amazing how a few drops of colouring will go through the whole batch of playdough.

The Spiritual truth is simple. When God is in my life he permeates every part of my life. The more of God in my life, the more he permeates every part of my life. Not only does yeast permeate, it makes the bread grow. The Kingdom starts with something small and hidden, permeates everything and it will grow beyond what we can imagine. Both in us spiritually and in the larger church. Just think of the early Church. It started small and grew to impact the world. God wants to do the same in me and you.

I asked Brian today if he was into the Ninja Turtles when he was a kid. He said "Nah mate! I was like 30!" whoops! :0

This 4 year old kid said to me the other day, "there was a monster in my room last night and he moved my pillow, but the 4 Ninja Turtles came into my room and put the pillow back and kicked the monster!" Kids with their imaginations! ;)

Time wasting 2

This week we have a new theme table at preschool about pets. i asked a 4 year old child if he had a pet. he told me he had a pet dolphin which he rides on his holidays. i said to him, "do you have any other pets. ;)" He said, "yeah....i have a pet Lion and he sleeps on caterpillars." ( i guess they would be comfy ;) i thought) i asked him what he drinks. He replied, "He drinks caterpillar water." (whatever that is). He's a cute boy. God love him!

Later on in the week i was telling Naomi about a number 2 i had to change on another 4 year old boy. gross! Its much worse then changing your own child. This one had kind of exploded out of the undies....
anyway, later on i was telling Naomi about how i was nearly vomiting. I told her "i was wrenching." she said "what?" i said "i was wrenching". she said "What?" i said a third time very slowly and sheepishly "wrenching!" as i realised as i was saying it that for the last 20 + years i have been saying wrenching instead of retching. How stupid could i be. Naomi's got a bit of ammunition for a few weeks. poor me! To tease someone for saying something that your only brought up to say in Blacktown. At least i don't say "wiff" instead of "with" or "Penrith" instead of "Penriff".

I just watched heroes. Still love it. Nick watched it with me.
He loves his wind! My goodness. He still finds them so fascinating! :) When will he grow up? Do not pull his finger!

I've still been talking in my sleep. Naomi tells me in the morning all the weird stuff i say. I think she makes most of it up.

This guy from the greens party bailed Naomi up down the street this week. He asked her, "How do you feel about Global Warming". She replied, "I don't care today!" and she kept walking. Can you believe that, sweet talking Naomi said to a nice man she doesn't care about Global Warming today! To her defence she said she was in a flurry and had the kids hanging off her. She meant to say I'm not interested today but somehow mixed it up :)

My Favourite TV show at the moment is heroes. I was in love with "Lost", but the show doesn't know how to come to a conclusion and its driving me nuts. I love most sci-fi movies except for star trek. Heroes is really cool. Most of the characters have superhuman powers.

The main cast, not all of whom have been shown to possess powers, currently consists of:

Claire who can heal herself. When she gets a really bad injury she heals in a matter of seconds.

D.L. Hawkins, once an escaped criminal, he has the power to alter his physical tangibility and phase through solid objects.

Isaac , an artist can paint future events during trances.

Hiro Nakamura, a programmer from Tokyo with the ability to manipulate the space-time continuum. He can go backwards and forward in time and freeze time.

Matt Parkman, a Los Angeles police officer with the ability to hear other people's thoughts.

Nathan Petrelli, has the ability of self-propelled flight.

Peter Petrelli, Nathan's younger brother. He has the ability to absorb the powers of others he has been near and can recall any ability he has used in the past by focusing on his feelings for those from whom the abilities originate.

I think I've got too much time on my hands when i can fit in all this blogging.

This week the boys went away with Naomi's parents for 3 days. It was great! I went to work, then came home to a peaceful house each day. With no kids! wahooo! well carissa was home and Naomi :) (she can be a bit noisy sometimes too ;) Naomi that is. i hope she didn't read that ;) ). Apart from that pretty tranquil. Well... Naomi blew chunks the first day(excuse the Amercanism, i like the phrase), and moaned how sick she was for the next 2 days. Apart from that fairly quite. she's not pregnant by the way! hahaha! i made sure that wouldn't happen again. If you know what i mean! Lets just say i still have nightmares! If you know what i mean.. Do you know what i mean?... Its not what you think, if you know what i mean...are you sure you know what i mean? i hope not!

I know a lot of people journal on their blog. I personally like to remain a bit private. But i thought i would give it a go. They say if you be a bit personal on your blog you get more followers. i know no one reads my blog so i will be pretty safe revealing my deepest secrets. I'm pretty shallow actually. I'm not sure if I've got any secrets.. but here goes..

I just watched this great thought-provoking movie called Children of Men.

The Year 2027:The Last Days of the Human Race. No Child Has Been Born for 18 Years. He Must Protect Our Only Hope. No children. No future. No hope.In the year 2027, eighteen years since the last baby was born, disillusioned Theo (Clive Owen) becomes an unlikely champion of the human race when he is asked by his former lover (Julianne Moore) to escort a young pregnant woman out of the country as quickly as possible. In this thrilling race against time, Theo will risk everything to deliver the miracle the whole world has been waiting for.

Have you noticed that most futuristic movies paint the future as bleak and with a sense of hopelessness?

Futuristic movies like The Matrix, The Terminator, Waterworld, Independence Day, 12 Monkeys, Fifth Element, The postman, Armageddon and Battlefield Earth & the list goes on forever. I honestly can't think of a movie where the future is a better place. Can you?

On top of that think of all the crazy things happening around the world. Just this week I read in the paper about a drive-by shooting in Sydney, school yard bashings and rapes being taped with mobile phones and Andrew Johns retiring from footy. lol.

In the last 5 years there has been so much war around the world....so many natural disasters. Sept 11 was definitely a turning point in the way we view the world around us.

In this movie, "Children of Men", the world has fallen apart and only "England marches on", the main theme in the movie is that there is hopelessness in the world. No one can fall pregnant and the youngest person is 18 years old. No one feels there is any purpose to living because there is no future for the world. Because of this feeling the world turns to anarchy. Hope returns when one women is found pregnant.

In our world the sense of hopelessness among people especially the young is increasing. we now see a world that surrounds us and is pumped through the media that is full of terrorism, war, pain, death, famine, violence, family breakdown, wars and Global warming and natural disasters.

When I've talked to students in Scripture classes I've often asked them, do they think the world is getting better or worse? Without objection they always answer "worse".

What hope is there for the world with everything that is happening around us!!??!

I believe that Christians have a timely message. With Jesus there is a hope for the future.

In fact the bible says, "Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be earthquakes in various places, and famines. These are the beginning of birth pains." However the bible says there is hope. That hope we need to shine to the world!

The Fellowship of the Believers

This passage amazes me. Every time i read it I try to imagine what took place. It amazes me how God filled them in a bizarre and unexpected way, Peter's transformation from a coward to a champion amazes me and it amazes me that 3000 were added. That's a lot of people without using modern equipment. It amazes me what this group of people became. A group of intimacy, fellowship and prayer. A group with miraculous signs happening all around them. A group of generous people and a group that was growing numerically. How many groups do you know that have incredible intimacy and continue to grow? Not many!

This passage especially the last part should be a dream that every believer has in their heart for their own local church!

Tell me your thoughts. Why do you think so many of us seem to be so far from this ultimate picture of the way our churches could be?

Naomi went out with the girls today and left me with the kids. We had a great day. i made playdough with them, watched Narnia, and did some painting with Carissa. When i turned my back she poured the green paint all over the pavers. ha! Then Naomi came home just as they were making a mess :( Have you heard the saying happy wife happy life? Well the opposite is also true. They trampled green paint into the house, just after we had the carpets cleaned :( But I blame her because they followed her into the house ;) lol

This is part of an article that was on the front page of the telegraph on Good Friday.

PARENTS are being warned not to smack their children in guidelines being released by a child welfare agency supported by the Federal Government.

The guidelines, available in 16 languages on the Australian Childhood Foundation's Kidscount website, tell parents that smacking children even on rare occasions teaches them that violence is acceptable later in life.

The $2.5 million taxpayer-funded campaign advises that, "Physical punishment causes pain to stop the behaviour. For example, hitting a child with a hand or object.''

It also states that physical punishment "teaches children that violence can be an acceptable way to solve problems'', and that it can have an adverse impact on their emotional development.

"Physical punishment can undermine a child's sense of love and security. They can often become anxious, fearful or rebellious,'' the guidelines say.

Global Warming

I took this from someone else's blog i was reading. Tell me what your thoughts are!

Al Goreâ€™s argument is that CO2, a greenhouse gas, is responsible for global warming, specifically man made CO2. Here are some inconvenient facts:

1. CO2 makes up less that 1% of our atmosphere. It is a minor greenhouse gas. A major one is water vapor.

2. The greatest producer of CO2 is the oceans. Man's contribution is way down the list.

3. We have records dating way back of the fluctuating global temperature. It happens. They have been going up (about 1 degree total) over the last 30 years. Prior to that we had a 40 year period of global cooling (during the height of carbon emitting industrial growth). Anyone remember the global cooling warnings of the 70's?

RH: I do! We did away with aeresol sprays and Freon because it was killing the ozone, making holes. So here we are, thirty years later and we are in a warming? Did our measures thirty years ago effect the atmosphere so much, we closed the ozone holes and are now experiencing a warming?

And, are the measure we take now going to cause some unanticipated effect in twenty-five years?

4. Al Gore showed a graph of CO2 levels from arctic core samples and compared it to a temperature change graph. What he didn't do is overlay the graphs. If he had, you would have seen that the change in CO2 followed years after the "corresponding" temperature change. A little problem with the order of cause and effect.

5. The size of the polar caps fluctuates regularly. This happens on Mars also, and its polar caps are currently shrinking. Can you guess what might be affecting the temperature on two different planets?

6. All the heat on earth comes from the Sun. Al Gore failed to consider the Sun's impact in his calculations.

7. If you overlay graphs of solar activity (like sun spots, flares, and solar wind) with temperature changes, they correspond almost perfectly.

So the real question is if global warming is not being determined through true and thorough scientific processes, why all the noise? My guess is it's political and way beyond American politics. We're talking global agendas that are way scarier than Al Gore's prognostications.

I was pretending to be a Ninja the other day when I was cutting up Zooper Doopers for the kids. I thought i was pretty good until I sliced my finger nearly off. At least that's what it felt like. Naomi ran around the house panicking not knowing what to do, "should i get a bandage...should i get ice...do you want pressure on it... do you want a band aid....what should i do..."(Naomi loves the drama). Reuben was rambling some monologue about who knows what. when i yelled at him and told him to go to his room (I was in pain allright!) I said sorry later on, he didn't care. Samuel said, "How come you didn't cut it with scissors". I replied well that wouldn't be very fun! He's the only one with common sense in the house. Poor kid! I told him to go to his room too and do some Maths! He loves Maths!

Ohh the pain...! The knife went straight through my nail on my thumb and sliced my pointer finger! Close your eyes right now and feel my pain!! This is one of my favourite passage in the bible. I love the imagery of becoming totally new, that God cleans us up and gives us a new heart and a new Spirit. It's nothing we can do, it is God who makes us a new and cleans us up!

I think it's incredible that Jesus didnt do it all himself in relation to spreading the news, but he gave us the responsibility to tell others about him.

Just as our country has ambassadors around the world representing us to other nations. God has made us ambassadors for him to those who don't know him.

Clay Jars? It was customary to conceal treasure in clay jars, which had little value or beauty and did not attract attention to themselves and their precious contents. Here they represent Paul's unworthiness. Paul is saying that God's all surpassing power in his life from God, not from himself.

Paul lets us know he is going through some hard stuff. He is hard pressed on every side, but not crushed. The pressure never got to the point where there was no escape or way out.

He is perplexed but not in despair. Although Paul may have been at a loss about how to proceed, he never went off the deep end.

He is persecuted but not abandoned. Paul was pursued from city to city by hostile Jews. But through it all, God never abandoned him.

Finally, he is struck down by the enemy but not destroyed. Paul was not only pursued by hostile Jews, but when they caught up with him, they stirred up trouble whenever they could.

When Paul talks about the death of Jesus he has in mind the hardships, troubles and frustrations that Jesus faced during his three year ministry. The loneliness, the disappointments with his disciples, the exhaustion, the constant harassment by opponents, the crowd's continuous demands, the mocking from his enemies, being left by his friends, the hours on the cross, the thirst and then the end.

Jesus taught his followers that if anyone would come after him, "he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me".

Our reaction to hard times tends to be "grin and bear it". Paul's approach is to make clear that it is God's power and the life of Jesus that empower and sustain him, and not his own strength. The Corinthians, like many Christians today, believed that adversity was inconsistent with the Spirit-filled Christian life.

Paul's opponents claimed that it is through the working of signs, wonders and miracles. Paul, on the other hand, maintained that God's power is able to make itself known most effectively through hardship and distress.

God's power and the life of Jesus are able to sustain us. All surpassing power is from God, not from ourselves! When we rely on our own strength we don't see the miraculous power of God in our life and we don't grow spiritually. When we rely on God's power he sustains and empowers us to get through any adversity.

God Brings comfort in the midst of great storms

2 Corinthians 1:3-5
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows.

It's important to notice 2 things in this passage. First, this provision of comfort is not for us but its intention is so that we can comfort those in any trouble. suffering equips us so that we can better minister to those who are going through trials and hardships.

Secondly, the provision is not deliverance "from" but encouragement in trouble. We are not promised release from trouble but help in the midst of it. If we are serving Christ, we will encounter hardships.

It certainly doesnt feel exciting when we are going through hardships. But God does promise that he will comfort us and he will ultimately use you to impact other people's lives for God through your hardship

Do you have a draem? I think Jesus has a dream!..... I think God's dream is that we love him with all our heart, soul, mind and strength and that we love others with an incredible passion. I believe when we make God's dream our dream that's when we begin to change the WORLD!

From the moment Jesus walked onto this planet he had a dream to change the course of history. He began to impact, influence and ultimately change people’s lives. On the night he was born great angels appeared among some sheperds bringing them great news of the saviour being born. Herod heard about Jesus through the magi and decided to kill all the boys 2 years and under because he was desperate to get rid of "the king of the Jews". When Jesus was 12 he was found in the temple, sitting among the religious teachers, discussing deep questions with them. And all who heard him were amazed at his understanding and his answers.

When he began his ministry he began to change and influence his world. From the moment he came to John to be baptised he impacted John. John says “I need to be baptised by you, and do you come to me?” When Jesus was in the desert for 40 days the Devil tried to influence him in a negative way. But Jesus would have none of it.

Jesus healed people, performed miracles, forgave people, raised people from the dead, preached amazing messages, revealed the scriptures to people, walked on water, gave people spiritual life and of course ultimately changing the world for generations to come by giving his own life.

Wouldn't it be incredible if we could impact our world for Jesus even 5% as much Jesus impacted his world. What is truly exciting is what Jesus said in John 14.

“The truth is, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father. You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, because the work of the Son brings glory to the Father. Yes, ask anything in my name, and I will do it!"

How awesome is that! We will do the same works as Jesus! and even greater works!

One of the major reasons Jesus influenced his world so much (apart from being the Son of God) is because he loved the father and loved people. Jesus drew children to him everywhere he went. He drew sinners to him. He drew people who felt ostrisized by society. Why were people drawn to him?......They were drawn because of love....If we could apply this truth to our lives in an increasing measure. We would draw more people to us and more people would be interested in what it is about us that is different!

Jesus’s routine was constantly interrupted by people. But it didn’t seem to faze him. He cared so deeply about every person that he would put aside what he was doing for that person. When we really know if we love people is when we love the unlovely. We love those who nobody else will. That’s what love really is.

9 God showed how much he loved us by sending his only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him. 10 This is real love. It is not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins. 11 Dear friends, since God loved us that much, we surely ought to love each other.

How amazing is it to know that we can be weak, timid and scared. Not have any clever words to say or eloquent speech and God can use us in incredible ways. Infact that's when God is more likely to use us, because we realise that we do need him to do his work and that's when we seek Him.

What an awesome thought to know that it is God who makes the seed grow. We can only water and plant a seed. God does the real work of changing someones life!

This is a car advertisement from Great Britain. When they finished filming the ad, the film editor noticed something moving along the side of the car, like a ghostly white mist. They found out that a person had been killed a year earlier in that exact same spot. The ad was never put on TV because of the unexplained ghostly phenomenon.

Watch the front end of the car closely as it clears the trees in the middle of the screen and you'll see the white mist crossing in front of the car then following it along the road....!

Is it a supernatural phenonmenon or is it simply mist? You decide.

If you listen to the ad, you'll even hear the cameraman whispering in the background about it near the end of the commercial.

I took the kids to see Parramatta flog the Sharks at the Parkes Oval on Saturday night. We had a great time! We ate cheezels and had lollipops. Once the food was gone the kids soon got pretty bored. There were over 8000 people at the game, which is pretty big for Parkes standards. Considering only 10,000 people live within the town.

The biggest highlight for the kids was the big rainbow that went across the sky after it rained.lol.

Hi everyone

We had a great week last week. With a few events happening. Naomi had her 27th birthday and we had a little party. She got lots of presents. She loves presents in case you didn't know. Every week I've gotta make sure she gets some kind of present. Ohhhh the drag of it! lol. We've been married 7 years now! so I figure that's a big enough present now! Doesn't get much better than that. lol.

How did Darth Vader know it was Luke's birthday?...............He felt his presence! ha!

Carissa had an operation on her eye in Orange, cant be bothered telling the whole story. She did well. Click HERE to hear Naomi's rave on about it.
We celebrated our 7th wedding anniversary!! Cant be bothered telling the whole story, she did well. Ahhhh.... just joking (we haven't celebrated yet because it was Carissa's operation day). But we are going to make up for it by celebrating it every night this week!! (Don't read into that!!)

Samuel had his first day at school. All the other parents were crying! We were celebrating!! Yahooo! He gets a bit more tired from school now and isn't so hyper! It's so peaceful right now because he's asleep. The things that excite you when you have kids!!lol
We saw my big sister Jo, my bro in-law Mic and my beautiful niece Chloe in Bathurst. They have just come back from England. We had a fantastic day hanging out on the top of Mt Panorama, some gardens and at Macca's. We came back sunburnt and with heat-stroke but it was great. Love ya Jo! You're the best sister in the world! Along with the other one of course :)This has nothing to do with the week. i just liked the photo! How cool are my kids!

Energetic Gym Session

I was at the gym last week doing my usual slaughter. I had been working out for maybe 15 min and had about an hour left. I heard a bit of a tear noise, I looked around at my backside while I going hard on the cross trainer to see the damage. I couldn't see anything, so I thought maybe it was just a small tear in the crotch and I forgot about it for the night. I continued my gym workout for the next hour and there were a lot of people around!

After the workout i had chat to a few people on the way out then went home. When I came home, I briefly conversed with Naomi who was sitting on the lounge reading a book. Then I turned around to walk to the bathroom and my beautiful wife who never thinks a horrid thought about me only thoughts of admiration, adoration and wonderment (lol) began to laugh her head off at me.

I panicked and said, "what?!" I had a tear in my red shorts from the top to the bottom of them (entire length from crotch to the hem above me knee). I said "Well at least I'm wearing red undies". She replied (still chuckling), "I don't think it would make a difference what colour undies you were wearing".

You think I would have felt the breeze blowing through. To think the whole night I was walking around with my backside hanging out for the whole world to see and nobody said a word. I am still chuckling to myself LOL!

ps Naomi MADE me chuck the shorts in the bin. I had considered still hanging onto them, they were a favourite of mine.......

This week at work we had some vandals come in twice. The first time they thought they would do number two's in the kids sandpit and the second time they broke in by kicking in a door. Nothing was taken as a assume they took off when they heard the alarm.

At lunch we were all talking about it and i said, "if i saw anyone doing that i would kick them right square up the rear end as he was doing it. One of the lady's I work with said "yeah and make sure you'd get his gungees as well". I said "Gungees?" She replied, "yeah you know his maltesers!"
